Week 5 Blog

Post reach is how many people your post are reaching and being seen by people, such as you post something and how many people it shows it to while they are scrolling through their feed.  Post engagement is how many people interact with your post or page, so of the people that it reached how many people stopped and followed your post or the links on your post.  It shows you how many people have gone through your page and post.  Knowing the difference is very important as it gives you insight into what is going on with your page/post.  For example, if you are reaching 500 people and only getting 100 engagement you may want to try and change the post layout colors or scheme maybe something is not working with catching people's attention.  Maybe it is just a dull look and people just scroll right past your post, or maybe it has to much detail instead of just enough to draw a person in. There is a fine line between giving to much information and not enough that draws a person into your page.

So businesses can use Facebook insight in so many different ways to help them develop products that are more appealing to customers.  Let's just use a hydro flask company for this example, if a company takes two different hydro flasks on opposite ends of the spectrum and they post both of them at the same time, and over the next day or two watch the interaction the two post gets.  By doing this they can see what customers or followers of their page are more interested in and want more of.  Now that they have done this they know what customers are looking for in the next type of hydro flask that will be a better seller.  They can also use the insight portion of Facebook to help them get surveys out to customers that way they can develop their products based on survey information along with it can show them of the 1000 people the survey was seen by versus how many interacted or engaged with the surveys.
